Dress Rehearsals - June 3, 4, & 5 at The Jim Rouse Theatre, Wilde Lake High School
Please use the backstage door when arriving for dress rehearsal & recital performances. This is located to the left of the theater as you face it (near the football field). You will be met by a member of the Studio Dans backstage crew who will escort you to the audience section of the theater. Please arrive 10 minutes before 'call time' in costume, hair and make-up. Please be on time as we are on a strict time schedule, and cannot go back. Students performing in more than one dance will have a special place to change backstage. Call times have been staggered so as to minimize the time that the dancers need to be at the theater. We recognize that the call times are early, so we thank you in advance for making arrangements to be on time for these rehearsals.
We will do our best to stay on schedule; however, unforeseen events may occur. It is in the best interest of the children that they are prepared and comfortable on the stage. Please note that no food or drink is allowed in the theater. This is the theater's rules & it will be strictly enforced.
Videotaping is only allowed at the dress rehearsal and must be done behind row F so as not to distract the dancers. No flash photography is permitted.
Dress Rehearsal Schedule can be found in the Recital Handbook on "Recital Central" page of the website

Ballet Shoes - Canvas shoes can be thrown in the washing machine and then air dried (place in the dryer if you wish to shrink). Leather shoes can be wiped down with a Clorox wipe or sprayed with a little cleaning solution. Jazz Shoes - can be wiped down with a Clorox wipe or sprayed with a little cleaning solution. Tap Shoes - Should have black laces (if applicable) and be sticker free.
Emails were sent out this week to the parents of all of the dancers who have been identified as having a quick change. If you did not receive an email, but feel that your child should be identified as having a "Quick Change" please contact Zoe Carr at email@example.com.
Please note that tickets are assigned seating. Please do not change your seats during the performance - people may be arriving for the second act only. If your dancer is only participating in one act and he/she would like to watch the performance, you will need to purchase him/her a ticket.
We request that you take your seats in a timely manner so that the show can begin and end on time.

Recital Day Information - below is important information which will help make for a successful & smooth running recital experience for everyone!! Thanks in advance for your help with this.
DROP OFF/PICK UP INSTRUCTIONS
Drop Off - 30 minutes prior to show time, dancers should check in via the
backstage entrance located on the side of the theater.
Dancing Through the Pages: If your child is only in the 2nd act, s(he) can arrive at either 7:30pm (7:00pm show), 1:30pm (1:00pm show) 5:30pm (5:00pm show) to minimize backstage time, likewise, if your child is in the 1st act only and does not wish to stay for the final bow, s(he) can be picked up at intermission FROM THE BACKSTAGE DOOR.
Pick Up - For the safety of our dancers, parents will be given a card (color coded by dressing room assignment) with their dancer's name/dressing room information on it at check in. You will be required to present this card to pick up your dancer.
In the event an alternative family member or friend will be picking up your dancer, please notify the check in staff prior to the end of the show. You may call (202-603-8566) to reach the check in desk. The adult picking up your dancer should be prepared to show a photo ID. Please pick your child up from the backstage door unless they have been assigned to the "Mini Theater" dressing room (pink card) in which case you may pick them up from the doors in the main theater lobby.
All backstage volunteers will wear name tags and wrist bands - please feel free to ask them if you have any questions.
ALL dancers should arrive in costume, proper hair (please no wispies! ) & make-up for their first number. Please have your child arrive & depart in a cover-up to help preserve their costumes. (Dad's old shirt or a bathrobe work great).
If your child has been identified as a dancer with a "Quick Change", please place the costume(s) they are quickly changing into in a separate container and bring to the "Quick Change" area (behind the stage) prior to each show.
Please do not send any additional items with your child, we cannot be responsible. NO GUM. NO ELECTRONICS. NO NAIL POLISH. NO JEWELRY (unless part of their costume). We have arranged for coloring pages, activities, and DVDs to be available backstage.
