The 15th annual Studio Dans recital's theme will be Dancing Through the Decades! The recital will take place at the Jim Rouse Theatre, Wilde Lake High School, and will be spread out on the following dates: Sunday, June 6th, Thursday, June 10th, Friday, June 11th, and/or Saturday, June 12th, 2021. We take great pride in our year-end productions and aim to provide the Studio Dans students and families with a professional experience and positive, joyous dance production.
We invite all of our year-round class students to participate in this wonderful event, culminating a year's worth of dance technique and training. The preparation for a dance recital (learning and memorizing choreography, developing musicality and style, working with fellow classmates) not to mention dancing on stage before friends and family, provides a child with a great sense of accomplishment and confidence. Choreography is taught during the last 20 minutes of class time. Should your child not be able to participate, he/she will still benefit from learning and perfecting the dance.
THE RECITAL PLANS:
While this year's recital will be very different from the past years, we are extremely excited to hold an in-person event! 2021 recital plans and protocol are heavily dependent on state & local mandates as well as procedures set by Jim Rouse Theater directors. It is still very early to know what the ongoing pandemic will look like in the spring, so we have created two tentative recital plans. The final recital plan and protocol will be announced by April 1.
Plan A: Dancers will participate and perform in a mini recital featuring their class and 5-6 other class performances. The anticipated show run time is about 45 minutes. During that time, each class will perform their dance separately with a brief disinfecting break between performances. Parents & families will be able to purchase tickets to attend, or can watch virtually. Specific performance schedule to be released in the Spring.
Students will be held socially-distanced backstage in the spacious Jim Rouse Theater dressing rooms, using assigned spaces and room monitors.
To prevent the additional risk of exposure, no costume changing will be allowed backstage. Dancers taking multiple classes will participate in multiple shows - we will try our best to keep siblings in the same show.
Dress rehearsals will be scheduled before the recital performance to give all dancers an opportunity to confidently take the stage!
Dress rehearsal and performance schedules will be finalized and released in the Spring.
Plan B: Dancers will participate and perform in individual class recitals. Each class will be assigned a 20-minute time slot during the recital dates. During this time, dancers will rehearse with their teacher in a dress rehearsal format and then perform their dance 1-2 times for the final recital video. Parents & families will be able to purchase tickets to attend, or can watch virtually. Between class timeslots, the stage and auditorium will be cleared and disinfected. Specific schedule to be released in the Spring.
In both plans:
Masks will be worn at all times by dancers, staff, and audience members.
A ticket purchase limit will be set and seating will be assigned to ensure each family/group in the audience is seated at least 6 feet apart.
As an alternative to in-person viewing, a live stream link will be provided to all participating families and can be shared with extended family and friends.
A digital recital video encompassing all of the recital dances will also be available to purchase through EverClear Video following the performance.
Costume measuring will be done at home this year, due to social distancing. Please fill out and submit the costume measuring form by Friday, January 15th. All costumes are non-returnable and non-refundable. If costume measurements are not received by January 15, costumes are subject to additional shipping fees.
Photo Call/Dance Run Through at Studio Dans:
This year only individual and sibling photos will be taken. Families will be able to schedule a photo time slot that works best for their dancer(s).
Wednesday, May 12th
Thursday, May 13th
Friday, May 14th
Saturday, May 15th
Costume Fee includes: Costume, shipping fees, accessories, and tights. The 2021 costume fee will be $68 per class costume. Students registered in multiple classes will have one costume per class. To ensure costumes arrive on time, fees and measurements are due by January 15th.
Recital Fee includes: Music licensing, rehearsals, administration, choreography, backdrops, theater and dressing room rentals, lighting and sound technicians, custodial staff and cleaning supplies, theater security, insurance, and a recital live stream link. Due to the uncertainty of the recital format, recital fees will not be finalized and posted until April 1. The 2021 recital fee will be approximately $55-$65 per dancer.
Recital Tickets: Recital ticket prices will depend on the recital format and audience capacity. At this time, we anticipate tickets being between $5 and $10.
Each student will be registered for the recital and invoiced accordingly. Costume fee payments can be made online through your family portal. If payment has not been made by January 15th, your card on file will automatically be charged. If the card is declined, an additional fee will apply. If for any reason you do not wish to participate, please email Zoe (email@example.com) by January 15th, and the recital registration and costume fees will be removed from your account. Recital information is included in the Friday Email Update. A recital handbook is available in the spring which will include recital details and ticket ordering/purchasing information.
