2020-2021 Studio Dans Policies
Tuition is paid monthly based on 9.5 months of classes (September-June) in 10 equal installments. Tuition is based on the total number of hours of instruction per week per student. Please check your family portal for a complete tuition breakdown. Please note that there is a $15 administration fee for transferring/dropping a class. Tuition and registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
The first and last month of tuition along with the registration fee is due at time of registration. Studio Dans requires a current credit card to be kept on file. Accepted forms of payment include check, Visa, and Mastercard. We are no longer able to accept cash. Please allow 48 hours after enrollment for tuition & registration fees to be posted to your account. You may make your payment through your family portal at that time, or your balance will be charged to your card on file after 7 days. All subsequent tuition payments are due on the 1st of the month. If payment is not received by the 7th, the credit card on file will be charged. A $35 fee will be applied to your account for all returned checks and declined credit cards, and any class discounts will be removed from your account. If payment is not received by the end of the month, your child will be withdrawn from class until the account is paid in full. A 5% discount is available if you wish to pay for the whole year in advance.
Classes will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The minimum enrollment is six (6) students per class. If the minimum enrollment is not met, the class may be combined with a similar class or cancelled.
All students are expected to be on time and dressed appropriately (see dress code). Students who do not adhere to the dress code will not be permitted to attend class. Dancers are expected to enter the studio respectfully and quietly and be physically and mentally prepared to dance. No food, drink or gum is allowed in the studios or dressing room. All students and parents are expected to treat fellow students and instructors with respect and not openly critique another dancer. Gross misconduct will not be tolerated.
Dance requires discipline and consistency. Students are expected to attend class every week. Students needing to miss class need to call or email the studio to inform the instructor. When a student misses a class, it not only hinders their performance, it hinders the overall progress and cohesiveness of the group. Make-up classes are available for absences due to illness or other personal reasons, however, missed classes must be made up within one month and in a class of the same dance discipline, of equal or lower level. It is required to register for a make-up class through the Front Desk.
Dancers are permitted to withdraw from classes with one month's notice until December 1, 2020. Please complete the drop/transfer request form on the Studio Dans website. After December 1, 2020, if a student withdraws from a class, the parent/guardian will remain responsible for the full annual tuition which will be due at time of withdrawal. Registration and tuition fees are non-refundable.
Dress Rehearsals are scheduled for June 6, June 10 & June 11, 2021. Recital Performances are scheduled for June 12 & 13, 2021. A Non-refundable recital fee is due by November 14, 2020. Costumes will not be ordered unless the fee is paid in full. Costumes are ordered over the winter break. Any costumes that need to be ordered after this time frame will have an additional charge for expedited shipping and handling. Dates subject to change.
Studio updates and announcements are emailed every Friday. It is imperative that all families have a current email on file to receive these emails. Please do not hesitate to contact the front desk if you have any questions. If you wish to contact an instructor, please leave a message with the front desk. Please do not try to discuss matters between or during class time.
In the case of emergency closing/severe weather, an email and text message alert will be sent to all families who have opted-in through their family portal (text message data rates may apply). You may also call the studio or check the Studio Dans Facebook page for cancellation information. Studio Dans does not follow Howard County School closings. Please do not feel obligated to travel to class if you are uncomfortable with the weather conditions. In the event of inclement weather every effort will be made to hold classes virtually.
FOOD POLICY AT STUDIO DANS
Due to the risk of illness, no food is permitted inside the facility. Please bring a full water bottle to class - for sanitary reasons, all water coolers will be closed.
All dancers, parents/guardians agree to comply with the studio code of conduct and waive and release Studio Dans, its staff, and independent contractors from any and all liability for any injuries or illnesses incurred while engaged in travel to or from and while at Studio Dans. Studio Dans uses video monitoring for security and reserves the right to use photography and video for promotional purposes, marketing, and promoting Studio Dans. Studio Dans is not responsible for any personal belongings left in the studio. All lost and found items are donated to charities at various times throughout the year.
Studio Dans does not share customer contact information with third parties.
Liability Waiver – Prior to entering Studio Dans, all students and staff members must complete the COVID-19 Liability waiver. You will receive the waiver in a separate email before classes begin. Please submit the signed waiver by the first day of class digitally or print it out and bring it to the studio on dancers’ first class of classes to ensure the most up-to-date information. Waivers will need to be re-submitted regularly. Dancers will not be allowed to take class at the studio without a signed waiver.
What to bring – Dancers should be in dance attire and bring only necessary dance shoes in your bag. DO NOT wear dance shoes outside. The dressing room will be closed. Please also bring a labeled water bottle, as the water cooler will be shut down.
Drop off – Please arrive at the studio 10 minutes before class. Drop off will take place in the back of the building. Please remain in your vehicle or dancers can line up outside the studio, maintaining a 6-feet distance. Dancers will be allowed in the studio one at a time. Parents will not be allowed into the studio to minimize exposure and maintain proper social distance.
Entrance to the building – Upon entrance, a temperature check will be taken and documented. If a dancer’s temperature is above 100.4, they will be asked to return to their vehicle immediately. Paper signed waivers should be submitted at this time if not submitted digitally. Once cleared, dancers will be asked to sanitize their hands and will be directed to the assigned studio. Dancers will be asked to take off their street shoes as they enter the studio and go directly to a dot on the side of the room to place their belongings. At this time, dancers will remove all non-dance attire and put on dance shoes if necessary. Dots are placed to maintain at least a 6-foot distance between each students’ belongings. Dancers will be directed to move from the location of their belongings to an assigned spot on the floor or barre by the instructor. Floors and barres will be marked with tape to maintain a minimum of 6-foot distance.
Masks – Form-fitting masks are required of ALL students and staff members at all times. Masks are required at all times while inside the studio- this includes moving through the hallway and for the entire duration of class. For mask tips and suggestions visit: Here's What Experts Say to Look for in a Mask for Dancing
Sanitation Breaks – Between class time slots, there will be a 15-minute cleaning break. During this break, the studios will be wiped clean and the floors will be steam mopped. Should a dancer have a break between classes, they will be asked to leave the facility. For this reason, we ask that a parent/guardian remain near the studio to ensure adult supervision is provided (this does not apply to dancers who have back-to-back classes) Lobby & bathrooms will be cleaned throughout the day while dancers are attending class.
After Class & Pickup – Pickup will take place at the front door of the studio. At the end of class, dancers will be directed by the instructor to gather their belongings. They will exit the studio one at a time, maintaining a 6-foot distance, to the front lobby where they will find a dot to stand and wait for their ride. A front desk staff member will direct the dancers to leave as their rides arrive. Parents are welcome to wait on the sidewalk (maintaining 6-foot distance) or remain in the car.
